[Grocery Review] Oreo Cookie Sticks ‘n Creme Dip

Purchased at: Murphy’s Food Mart (Kentland, IN)

I’m not a huge Oreo fan (see my review for the dreadful Oreo Brownie). It’s not a bad cookie to eat in a pinch, but I have a preference for other brands, most notably the unfortunately underrated E.L. Fudge.

So when I tried to alleviate an E.L. craving the other day only to find the closest store didn’t even carry them (fucking bogus, Murphy’s), I had to go another route.

Having never seen the Cookie Sticks ‘n Creme Dip before, I decided to sample it and chronicle the decent, yet unremarkable experience below.

A big plus this product has is a surprisingly high quantity of cookie material. The box contains six separate small containers of six sticks and a container of creme to accompany each packet.

All told, you are essentially getting 36 individual sticks (or 18 mini-Oreo sandwiches, however you chose to consume them) for $2.79. That’s not exactly a revolutionary bargain, but it’s not a rip-off either.

As for the taste, it’s basically what you’d expect it to be, which is to say the more you enjoy Oreo’s, the more likely you are to enjoy this product. Aside from the creme being runnier and less compacted that what you get with the cookies, the taste is virtually the same.

One problem I did have was that I didn’t find the product to be very texturally sound. Having gone through two of the six packages, I had one of the cookies break off on two separate occasions. I don’t know if this complaint really holds much ground as obviously it’s better for them to be too soft than too hard, but when it’s broken into sections, it makes the creme more difficult to proportionately spread and I am certainly anal retentive enough to find this bothersome.

One suggestion I would make is to encourage people to eat these within the confines of their own homes. Breaking off small cookie parts, dipping them in icing and smashing two ends together to form a makeshift dessert sandwich isn’t the most dignified meal one can eat, so consuming them at work (I really need to stop throwing my fancy job in everyone’s face) isn’t a surefire way to secure the respect of your co-workers. Like most snack food, it’s best to be consumed sitting alone in the dark where only the lord can pass judgment upon you (it’s the same school of thought Zac Pritcher applies when masturbating to iCarly).

Does It Hit The Spot?

Sure. I struggle to endorse it whole-heartedly seeing as how I only derive moderate enjoyment from the Oreo brand. It also doesn’t help that the product has a few flaws, most notably the fact that the cookie sticks do not tend to be ablet to withstand the force of a proper scoop in the dip. However, it still tasted alright to me and if you are a fan going in, it’s tasty and economical enough to merit a sampling.

I like these, the creme is the best part. But I found that there isn’t enough for liberal dipping.
