I’m back with another review to dish out.

My mother’s birthday was this week so as tradition in our family we dine out that night. My family is quite a picky bunch of eaters, my sister and dad are happy with simpler food or a steak but no seafood, my grandmother has to have seafood that is soft enough for her to eat, and my mother can be a tad selective as well. This time we decided to try out a new restaurant in Weymouth, Massachusetts.

Stockholders is a seafood and chophouse that has a price range between $13 – $25 per entrée. The exterior of the restaurant is the first thing you’ll notice if you park in the back lot. The overwhelmingly delicious smell of burning oak wood pours into the street. The interior was nice. It included two giant crystal fish tanks, Wall Sreet themed wall decoration and neutral colors on the floors and walls.

This place was packed the night we went, which is usually a good sign of things to come. Our waitress came over and took our drink orders, though she didn’t really have good suggestions on food and was overly superficial in her responses. Our drinks took a long time to arrive, so much so, that our food came right out after the drinks. One service point I think they need to work on along with the fact no one at our table was offered a cup of water until we had to ask.  So service wasn’t the best, which was a bummer.

But how was the food?

Luckily, it was excellent! I got a stacked chicken dish with orzo, spinach, cherry tomatoes, microgreens, and a balsamic reduction sauce. It was supposed to have Bermuda onion, but I didn’t miss it much. The chicken was nicely roasted with skin on. I did wish I had a steak knife instead of a butter knife to cut it as it was on the bone, another service point. The meat was moist and it had a nice deep roasted flavor to the skin. The orzo was perfectly cooked and buttery. The sauce added a nice tang to the buttery pasta.

Everyone at the table also shared tastes of each others dishes. All were wonderful especially my dad’s prime rib. It was charred a bit on the edge from the oak and was perfectly cooked.

My beverage I had with my dinner was just alright. It was called the Cherry Spread and included sprite, cherry vodka, and grenadine with a cherry on the top. The balance of the drink was far off. The cherry flavor which should have been front and center wasn’t. My sister’s drink however was quite good.

Does It Hit The Spot?

Although the service needs some work I am going to say yes. The food was so good that I can overlook the other shortcomings. This is a very nice restaurant for the Weymouth area to enjoy and a nice spot for celebrations or to bring a date. I will return to try the prime rib and instead of a mixed drink, have a nice cold beer. Yeah that sounds good!
